Corn dryers were first used in Colonial America as a means of drying corn so that the kernels could be stored for future use. They were usually hung around the fireplace on nails or spikes with corn cobs stuck on each tine so that the heat of the fire might dry them more quickly. When dry, the kernels would begin to fall off and could be collected and stored for later use usually ground into corn meal and used in cooking.
Our corn dryers come in three sizes, either small, medium or large and each has a forged heart at the top. The bottom of each is crafted so that they may be hung together, should you want to hang more than one.
